A girl was attacked with acid in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday, sending shock waves across the city where such crimes against women are rare.
Reports said the 24-year-old girl was attacked with acid at Usmania Colony in the Wantpora area of Hawal.
An official said that the survivor was attacked by some unidentified persons outside her business unit in the evening.
The attacker managed to flee from the spot even as the girl raised an alarm.
She was immediately taken to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Nawab Bazar for treatment. The hospital medical superintendent, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh told news agencies that the girl’s face has been completely damaged
“She is being operated upon to see whether her eyes are damaged,” he said.
Meanwhile, a police official from the Nowhatta police station said that the investigation in this regard has been started.
The police officer said they have launched a hunt to nab the attacker.
