Security officer of BJP leader goes missing with two guns in Kupwara, police launch manhunt




The armed forces establishment is in a tizzy after the personal security officer of a Bharatiya Janata Party leader and his associates went missing along with weapons in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.



Reports quoting official sources said during the intervening night of December 12 and 13, Saqib Ahmad Tantry, a special police officer deployed as PSO with BJP  member Abdul Rashid Zargar fled with two weapons.

Saqib’s “associate” Arif Ahmad, son of Bashir Ahmad Mir, also a resident of Bohipora in Kupwara, is also missing, reports said.

A senior police official of the district told news agency Global News Service that efforts are underway to trace out the duo.

“Saqib Ahmad Tantry had come to his house and left. His family told us that they are also searching for him,” the officer said.

Asked about the missing weapons, the officer said that “PSOs with Rashid Zargar has not come and things will get clear soon.”

A resident of Lolab in Kupwara, Zargar is presently being kept along with other protected persons in the PWD building at Salkoot, the sources added.
