In the second incident of its kind in the past four days, Masked gunmen robbed cash from a Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank in the Parimpora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on Tuesday, police said.
Three masked gunmen entered the Grameen Bank branch at Mujgund around 1.15 pm, a police official said, adding that the gunmen decamped with Rs 3.5 lakh cash from the branch.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and have started investigations, the official said.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that the robbers might have used a toy pistol to carry out the robbery.
On March 12, a Grameen Bank branch at Kunzer Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was robbed of Rs 2.24 lakh.
Notably, the Kunzer branch reportedly had no CCTV cameras and it was not immediately known whether the Panzinara branch had the facility or not.
