Policeman wounded in Srinagar grenade attack

A policeman was injured in a grenade attack by militants in the Khwaja Bazaar area of the old city in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on Friday, officials said.

The ultras lobbed the grenade at police personnel deployed at Khwaja Bazaar in the Nowhatta area, the officials said.

They said the policeman sustained minor injuries in the blast.

Soon after the attack, armed forces cordoned off the area and launched searches but the militants managed to flee.

On the same day, a joint team of armed forces during a cordon-and-search- operation in village Zandfaran Sheeri in Baramulla found 11 hand grenades, 11 UBGL grenades, and 1 crude grenade from a hideout in a Nalla.
