Policeman escapes unhurt after militants open fire in Batamaloo

A policeman escaped a bid on his life by unidentified gunmen in the Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

The pistol-borne gunmen opened fire on constable Muneer Meraj near his residence in SD Colony in Batamaloo area, they said.

They said the cop escaped the attack unhurt.

The police have taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation.

This was the second attack on armed forces in Srinagar since January 25 when suspected militants hurled a grenade at the Hari Singh High Street in the summer capital, injuring at least seven people.
