Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday released a list of nine wanted militants operating in Srinagar and city outskirts.
Among the wanted militants are Nowgam resident Wasseem Qadir Mir, who joined militancy in December last year. Chanpora resident Shahid Khursheed who joined militants in February this year has also been named by the police.
Irfan Ahmed Sofi, from Natipora, who joined militancy in December last year, and Bilal Ahmed Bhat who became a militant in February last year also are among the most wanted. Saqib Manzoor Dar of Old Barzulla, who joined militancy in August last year also features in the police lookout notice.
Srinagar has seen a spate of militant attacks since the second half of the last year.
The police list also mentions Abrar Nadeem Bhat of Eidgah who has joined a militant group in 2018. Muhammad Yousuf Dar alias Issa Kantroo, a recycled militant who joined militancy in 2012 and again in 2015 is also among the most wanted. Muhammad Abbas Sheikh of Rampora in Kulgam district is the only wanted militant in the police list who is not a Srinagar resident.
Ubaid Shafi Dar of Firdousabad in Batamaloo is also among the most wanted.
The police lookout notice has a landline and mobile numbers for anyone who has information about the wanted eight militants. “Informer shall be suitably rewarded,” the police notice reads.
