Three militants were slain while two army troopers were injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.
An official said a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 09 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on a piece of specific information about the presence of militants in Chimmer village of Damhal Hanjipora.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The official said that in the ensuing encounter three militants have been killed, while two army men were injured.
“The injured army men were taken to Army hospital for treatment,” the official said, adding that the search operation was going on in the area.
Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police on its official Twitter handle also confirmed the killing of three militants in the encounter.
A search operation is currently underway in the area.
