The Jammu and Kashmir on Friday claimed to have arrested one of the accused involved in the day-light killing of a police officer of the Criminal Investigation Department earlier this year.
The police said they have arrested one of the two accused involved in the killing of Inspector Parvez Ahmad, who was shot dead in the Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar on June 23, this year.
“Muheeb Bashir Dar, a resident of Manganwagi who was involved in the killing has been arrested,” the police said without giving more details.
Two youth had fired indiscriminately on the police officer outside a local mosque while he was going for the evening prayers.
Dar sustained grievous bullet injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. He, however, succumbed to his injuries.
The CCTV footage had shown firing by two youth, and police had said in June that their identities were being ascertained.
In Srinagar, militants have been attacking policemen using small weapons particularly since India abrogated Article 370 on August 5, 2019.Fri 3:20pm
