Worshippers were yet again barred from joining Friday congregation at the Jamia Masjid in Jammu and Kashmir summer capital Srinagar.
Anjuman Auqaf lamented the repeated closure of Jamia Masjid and disallowing of Friday congregational prayers for the last three Fridays at this historic religious place despite fully adhering to Covid-19 SOPs.
In a statement, Anjumam Auqaf said that on Friday morning senior officials of the administration informed the Khateeb and Imam of the Central Mosque, Moulana Ahmad Sayeed Naqshbandi that congregation prayers would not be allowed in the grand mosque.
“In this regard, a formal notice was also posted on the gate of the Jamia Masjid by the administration.”
The Anjuman lamented that despite the worshippers fully adhering to Covid-19 SOPs, the prayers at the largest place of worship in Kashmir were not being allowed for the last three Fridays.
“This is extremely sad and painful for the people especially those coming for prayers at the Jamia Masjid Srinagar,” it said.54m
