A commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Yasir Parray and a foreign ultra were slain in an encounter with armed forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
The encounter took place in the Qasbayar area of the south Kashmir district.
“Two militants were killed in the encounter,” they said.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said one of the slain was Parray, commander of JeM and an IED expert.
The other slain was identified as a foreign national named Furkan.
The operation in Qasbayar started after a joint team of Police, Army, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
