Many local youths from Sonwar and Dalgate localities of summer capital Srinagar held a protest on Monday demanding closure of wines shops and strict against the drug dealers in their areas.
Talking to the media the protesters said, “that youth involved in drugs and liquor are increasing day by day. We appeal to higher authorities to look into the matter and ban and the liquor shops and arrest all drug peddlers.”
“It is difficult for our family especially our female members to come out of homes as these peddlers roam around all day in our area,” they said.
“Drug addiction and liquor consumption are some of the reasons for the increasing rate of suicide cases in Kashmir. Once these peddlers are getting addicted to drugs then they can go to any extent to quench their thirst.”
“We demand the ban of all liquor shops and strict take action against drug peddlers,” they said.
