The Indian government forces sealed an area in summer capital Srinagar late on Friday and conducted searches, reports said.
Residents of Natipora said the government forces launched a crackdown, sealing the area and didn’t allow anyone to move out.
Government forces conducted door-to-door searches and checked identification cards, locals said.
“The search operation was sudden and surprising,” a local, who wished not to be named fearing the government forces, told a local news agency.
Last month, a police guard of Peoples Democratic Party member Haji Parvez was shot dead by militants in the same area.
A local youth who had joined the pro-freedom insurgents before the attack had released an audio in which he owned up the attack and announced his decision to join the militant ranks.
