The administration in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar is mulling to impose strict lockdown in some parts of the city amid the rise in Covid-19 cases, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Aijaz Asad said Monday.
He said for the mistake of people in some parts of Srinagar, entire district can’t be punished.
Asad stated this after conducting surprise inspections of various areas of Srinagar including Lal Chowk.
The DC Srinagar found many shopkeepers and mall owners involved in the violation of Covid SoPs and ordered their on-the-spot sealing.
Asad said that some areas in Srinagar continue to violate Covid SoPs and the administration will impose strict lockdown in these areas in a few days.
“In some parts of Srinagar, Covid SoPs are regularly violated. We will wait for a few days, if things don’t change, we will enforce strict lockdown in these areas,” he said, adding that “We cannot impose a complete lockdown in the district for the violations being done by people in some areas.”
SSP Srinagar Sandeep Choudhary also said police will act strictly against those violating the Covid SoPs in the days ahead.
