Covid-19 cases in Kashmir continue to surge: 170 new infections and one black fungus case reported

Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday witnessed 170 fresh Covid-19 cases taking the number of total active cases to 1,421, while no death was reported in the last 24 hours.

With no more death, the toll stands at 4,415 and 170 fresh positive cases reported on Thursday have pushed the tally of positive cases to 327,466.

Of the exact number of 327,466 cases, 204,046 are from the Kashmir division and 123,420 from the Jammu division. Among 170 new cases, 129 belong to the Kashmir division while 41 are from the Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in the Kashmir division has reached 204,046 including 200,632 recoveries and 2,246 deaths while as a total number of positive cases in the Jammu division has reached to 123,420 including 120,998 recoveries and 2,169 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir is 1,421 including 1,168 from the Kashmir division and 252 from the Jammu division.

With 98 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 321,630 which is 98.22 percent of the total cases.

Meanwhile, authorities on Thursday said that a fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as the black fungus was reported and tally stands at 47.

As per the daily information bulletin, 3,435,569 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,070 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1,421 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,957,278 persons have completed the surveillance period and 464,278 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 14,147,712 samples are available.
