Two women from Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district have been arrested in connection with the attack on the house of Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Srinagar last week, a news report said on Monday.
The attack on BJP leader Anwar Khan’s house in Nowgam had left one policeman dead while his rifle was also taken away by the militants.
The police had recently claimed that two of the four militants who attacked Khan’s house were slain in a gunfight in Kakpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama a day after the attack. The police had claimed the recovery of the rifle that was snatched from the policeman.
Sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that two young women were arrested by police station Nowgam. They identified the arrested duo as Tabasum Maqbool, 22, and Anjum Younis, 23, both residents of Kanihama, in Budgam.
Sources added that one among the arrested young women is a nursing student and is pursuing her studies in Chadoora.
The police didn’t respond to queries from the news agency.
