An auto-rickshaw driver was injured on Wednesday after an Indian army soldier allegedly opened fire at him in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Mohsin Ahmad, an auto-rickshaw driver, received injuries in his leg when the trooper of a patrolling party in Azadgunj opened fire at him, they said.
It was not immediately clear as to why the soldier resorted to firing.
An army spokesman said the allegations are being probed.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Muhammad Rayees Bhat said: “Different versions are coming, we are ascertaining the facts as to what exactly happened,” he said.
The police officer said that the injured civilian is stable.
