3 Omicron cases detected in Jammu as J&K reports 104 fresh infections; one more dies

Three cases of a new coronavirus variant, Omicron, have been reported in Jammu, officials said on Tuesday.

Health and Medical Education Department in a tweet informed that three Omicron cases were confirmed from a cluster in Jammu.

“Three Omicron cases confirmed by NCDC, Delhi from a cluster in Jammu. The sample was taken on 30th November. RTPCR testing of the entire locality. Please observe Covid Appropriate Behaviour.” Health and Medical Education department J&K tweeted.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday reported one death and 104 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the number of total active cases to 1,327.

With one more death, the toll in J&K has reached 4,514 and 104 fresh positive cases have pushed the tally of positive cases to 340,036.

Of the exact number of 334,195 cases, 214,143 are from the Kashmir division and 125,893 from the Jammu division.

Officials said that among 104 new cases, 78 belong to the Kashmir division while 26 are from the Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in the Kashmir division have reached 214,143 including 210,829 recoveries and 2,319 deaths while a total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 125,893 including 123,366 recoveries and 2,195 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir is 1,327 including 995 from the Kashmir division and 332 from the Jammu division.

With 139 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 334,195 which is 98.28 percent of the total cases.
