In an alarming situation, at least ten children, aged below 7 years, have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official from Sub District Hospital Sopore told a local news agency that out of ten persons who tested positive for Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test, seven are minors, and aged below seven years.
He said that on Thursday, three children below one year of age tested positive for Covid-19 through RAT, adding that their families have tested negative for Covid-19 through RAT, however, their samples for RT-PCR have not been received yet.
He said that all the infected children are symptomatic and among them, one has pneumonia, who was admitted at SDH Sopore.
The official added that it seems that these children have contracted the virus at a private pediatric clinic where they have been visiting for treatment.
He said on Saturday, they will conduct random sampling of persons working at private clinics in the area and there are chances that they might trace the virus spreader.
